YMCA of Middle Tennessee announces new president and CEO

The YMCA of Middle Tennessee Board of Directors announced Tuesday that Chris Tointon has been named president and CEO of the mid-state association of YMCAs.
YMCA of Middle Tennessee includes 14 family wellness centers, a 300-acre day- and resident-camp facility, the region s largest network of before- and after-school care sites, and a number of community-based outreach programs for youth and adults. Tointon will succeed current CEO Dan Dummermuth, who in 2020 announced his plans to retire after a 35-year YMCA career.Â
Tointon currently serves as the president and CEO of the YMCA of Greater Omaha, where under his leadership the organization made significant advancements in its support of children and youth, launching partnerships for Early Learning Centers at both Common Spirit Health and Creighton University. During his five-year tenure, the Y also expanded its footprint with two new YMCAs and another three are set to open in 2022 and 2023, two of which are part of inn ....

Longtime Pinnacle director prepares to step down

A member of the Pinnacle Financial Partners board of directors since late 2007 will step down next month after the bank holding company’s annual shareholders’ meeting.
Gary Scott joined the Pinnacle board when the downtown-based company acquired Mid-America Bancshares, which owned PrimeTrust Bank a community bank Scott had helped launch in 2001 and Bank of the South. He is not allowed to run for another term on the body because he is 75, the age at which Pinnacle’s governance policies say no director can be renominated.
In part because of his tenure on the board, Scott had come to be considered an independent director rather than an insider. That distinction allowed him to until recently chair the board’s risk committee Renda Burkhart, a Knoxville accountant, now holds that position and be a member of its nomination and corporate governance committee. ....

The directors of Pinnacle Financial Partners have elected longtime Nashville Electric Service President and CEO Decosta Jenkins to join them at the beginning of March. Jenkins will be the bank holding company’s 17th board member.
Jenkins joined NES in 1991 as a senior vice president and CFO after working for more than a decade at Deloitte. He was named CEO in 2004 and has since overseen the utility’s growth to $1.4 billion in revenues.
“Decosta is one of Nashville’s most prominent civic and business leaders, and we’re thrilled to add his deep well of knowledge and experience to our board,” Pinnacle President and CEO Terry Turner said. “For the last 17 years, he’s served as the sure and steady hand at the helm of one of Nashville’s most important major utilities […] On top of all that, he’s a person of principle and a good partner.
