By: Clayton Cummins LOGAN COUNTY, Oklahoma - Logan County’s new emergency manager and sheriff deputy is being commended for his lifesaving work during a dangerous high-speed police chase Friday morning. Steven Haga helped get parents and children, who were selling fireworks roadside for the nonprofit Oklahoma Icons, to safety at the Highway 33 and Highway 74 intersection as a chase suspect sped through. It was around 9 a.m. when law enforcement attempted to pull over a Chevrolet Cobalt near the intersection of W. College Ave. and N. Division St. in Guthrie. Logan County Sheriff Damon Devereaux said the Chevrolet Cobalt had a tinted license plate cover which made it difficult to be read. ....

By: Sylvia Corkill LOGAN COUNTY, Okla. - A former Logan County deputy is in legal trouble after prosecutors said he stole from the family of a deputy killed in the line of duty. The guns belonged to David Wade. Wade was killed in the line of duty in April 2017. Records show that same month Jason Tauer started pawning his weapons. “Not only did he defy the trust of the Wade family but the trust that we had with him as a brother in law enforcement,” said Logan County Sheriff Damon Devereaux. In 2017 three-year veteran Wade was killed while serving an eviction notice. ....
A bill to declare Oklahoma a Second Amendment Sanctuary state will head to the Senate. District 7 State Sen. Warren Hamilton, R-McCurtain, authored Senate Bill 631 as âstate preemption of federal infringement of Second Amendment rights.â The Senate s Committee on Public Safety approved with a 9-2 vote to move the bill forward. If the Senate votes to approve, the bill would immediately become law. Hamilton represents Pittsburg, Latimer and Haskell counties, and portions of Hughes and Okfuskee counties â all of which are among 31 of Oklahomaâs 77 counties to file Second Amendment sanctuary resolutions. The bill calls the U.S. Constitution the supreme law of the land and emphasizes unalienable rights in the Declaration of Independence, which is not a legally-binding document like the Constitution. ....
