CARL VINCENT ANDREWS, 62, of Crossways Street, Barry, was jailed for eight weeks, suspended for 18 months, after he was found guilty after a trial of public disorder. He must complete a 12-day rehabilitation activity requirement and pay £378 in costs and a surcharge. MARC ANTHONY BLOOM, 33, of Harvey Street, Barry, was banned from driving for 12 months after he admitted drug driving with cannabis in his blood. He was ordered to pay £239 in a fine, costs and a surcharge BENEDICT EDWARD RYAN, 41, of Cilgant Y Meillion, Rhoose, was sentenced to a 12-month community order after he was found guilty after a trial of two counts of assault by beating and one count of public disorder. ....
AVERY COUNTY â The amount of trash on the side of the roads throughout the county and state has captured the communityâs attention, and in order to maintain the pristine nature of one of the most beautiful regions in the country, local groups are coming together to clean Avery County. Beginning at 9 a.m. on Saturday, March 20, Jesse Pope, Executive Director of the Grandfather Mountain Stewardship Foundation, will be hosting the âAvery County Clean Sweep,â a community-wide trash collection effort meant to clear the debris that has been piling up on the roadsides throughout the county. âRight now what weâre working on is looking at the county in segments. Then weâll be looking for anchor organizations or volunteer groups that will basically adopt a segment, and they will help coordinate in that area. For example, Newland may be one area, and we may have one or two organizations there,â Pope said. ....
