DORSET — The Dorset Fire Department, with assistance from 11 area departments, battled a fully involved house fire on Danby Mountain Road in the early morning hours Monday.
The fire, at 2506 Danby Mountain Road, was reported at 1:34 a.m.
Dorset Fire Chief Shawn Hazelton said that when he arrived on the scene, the 50-foot by 100-foot log cabin structure was two stories tall with a full basement and it was fully involved with half of the second floor already collapsed.
With a metal roof holding the heat in, firefighters worked for close to two hours to get the initial knockdown and control of the fire. ....
