Man with history of attacking police officers is sent to prison A WINCHESTER man has been jailed for 40 weeks for a string of attacks. Christopher Gwyn Peake, 40, of Christchurch Road, has a history of assaulting emergency workers, a court heard. Peake admitted threatening and assaulting PC Rakim Ahmed and it was racially and religiously motivated. He also pleaded guilty to assaulting Gintaras Sausonis and APS Dan Baines as well as stealing a macaroni cheese hot food box from Pret a Manger. The offences triggered a suspended sentence imposed in December 2019 for attacking a policeman. Peake was also ordered to pay a £128 victim surcharge. ....

Members of the Equity Release Council have voted for its expansion through reappointing three directors to its main board and widening its standards board membership. Will Hale, chief executive of Key, Paul Turner, managing director of retail at Just Group and Dan Baines, managing director of Equity Release Associates, have all been re-elected to serve an additional two years on the council’s 16-strong executive board. Stuart Wilson, chief executive of Answers in Retirement and James Ginley, who will join e.surv as technical director in May, have been elected to join the council’s standards board, expanding its membership to nine. ....
