Kenosha businesses impacted by violent protests receive recovery funding Microloan funds still available, KABA says Share Last updated on December 29th, 2020 at 12:14 pm More than 25 Kenosha-area businesses impacted by the violent protests that erupted in the community in late August have received loans of up to $50,000, the Kenosha Area Business Alliance announced today. The loans, provided by the Wisconsin Economic Development Corp. and administered through KABA, are no interest loans with a 5-year repayment period, a 6-month deferment and are intended to assist with repair work and other short term operating expenses. Each loan recipient will also have an opportunity to have up to 50% of their loan amount forgiven for meeting certain criteria set forth in the Disaster Recovery Microloan Program. ....
Tensions that have mounted over Kenosha Unifiedâs decision to go all-virtual through the first week of the New Year came to a head Tuesday night as School Board member Todd Battle and Board President Tom Duncan clashed over the amount of time allotted to speaking on the school return plan amid the pandemic. During the last meeting of the year before the holidays, Duncan spoke at length about e-mails for and against the School Boardâs Nov. 17 decision to switch to an all-virtual format with a plan to return on Jan. 11. The district went all-virtual on Nov. 30. Duncanâs remarks came during discussion about the districtâs Return 2020 Plan, a hybrid model previously in place with families having been able to choose in-person or virtual learning to start the school year.
