Fannin County Covid-19 plans remain in place


BONHAM — Active cases of Covid-19 in Fannin County rose slightly this week, but remained at a low 17, County Judge Randy Moore told commissioners Tuesday morning. Ten of the cases were in the prisons, leaving just seven cases in the public, he said. A day later, the active case count dropped to 14.
The hospitalization rate for the Trauma Service Area that includes Fannin County through Sunday, the latest day for which data was available at the time of the meeting, remained stable at about 3.4%, however, it too ticked up slightly to 3.65% by Tuesday. It remains well below the 15% threshold that in December and January triggered business opening and capacity restrictions. ....

SAN ANTONIO, Texas (KFDA) - The Nazareth Swiftettes looked to expand their historic state championship titles in girls basketball, just one win away from 25. The class 1A State Championship tipped off early at 10 a.m. against the Dodd City Hornets. Nazareth entered the game with an 4-0 state title game record over Dodd City, but that changed Wednesday morning.
“There’s not another, I could not handpick another group of girls out there that I would rather go through this with. I mean, they mean everything to me,” said Nazareth Head Coach Eric Schilling. ....

NAZARETH, Texas (KCBD) - The ninth KCBD Hoop Madness Team of the Week for this season is the Nazareth Swiftettes.
In their 1-A semifinals match-up against Westbrook, the Swiftettes held the Lady Cats scoreless in the third quarter on their way to a 48-17 win.
Nazareth is (27-4) overall on the season and are heading to their fifth straight state title game and the programs’ 30th.
The Swiftettes will take on Dodd City in the state title game Wednesday morning at 10 a.m. in the Alamodome in San Antonio. ....

Fannin County indictments total record breaking 603 for 2020


BONHAM — The December session of the Fannin County Grand Jury handed out 82 indictments, bringing the total number of true bills for the year to a record breaking 603 new felony cases filed, according to District Attorney Richard E. Glaser.
The jury also heard evidence in an officer-involved shooting investigated by the Texas Rangers. Finding the use of force justified, the jury declined any charges against the officer involved, Glaser said.
“It is important to note that an indictment is a formal charge and should not be considered as evidence of guilt, and that all persons charged with a crime are presumed innocent until proven guilty beyond a reasonable doubt,” Glaser said. ....
