£50,000 'Bainbridge' replica vase to be auctioned off in Lancashire

Unique £50,000 vase owned by Lancashire man to be auctioned off
AN antiques, jewellery and collectables auction will sell off a Chinese vase with an estimated value of between £30-50,000.
A & C auctions of Pendle (auction rooms in Burnley and recently opened in Colne) have announced that they will be selling the valuable 16-inch vase, which was consigned to the auction by a Lancashire vendor who inherited the piece from his late father.
The vase is a virtual exact copy of the infamous Bainbridge (or Pinner) reticulated 18thC Chinese vase which sold at Bainbridge Auctioneers (London) for £43million in 2010.
The vendor’s father was so taken by the Bainbridge vase he travelled to China, sought out a master potter who could make a reticulated vase to the same high standard as the 18th Century Bainbridge original which was made by Tang Ying at Jingdezhen for the Qianlong Emperor in around 1740. ....

At the Beijing station, only about five of 15 security gates were open and the usual lines at ticket windows and passengers camped on the central plaza were nowhere to be seen. China has in recent years upgraded systems along with building the world s largest high-speed rail network, but passenger numbers have remained heavy. ....
