Vietnam s largest waste-to-energy plant to become operational next month
The Soc Son waste-to-energy project is located in Nam Son Waste Treatment Complex in Hanoi, the largest one in Vietnam will start operating this August.
The move came to help handle the issues of waste treatment in Hanoi, a very frustrating problem for residents living near the Nam Son Waste Treatment Complex.
In recent years, the Nam Son complex has been in the news several times for a long-running dispute over land compensation that repeatedly caused local residents to block entry to it, resulting in trash piling up around the city.

A fire-lighting ritual was held for making a up-to-300-kg bronze drum by the Vietnam Association of Historical Sciences (VAHS) in Dong Don district, the north-central province of Thanh Hoa on April 18.

To make the bronze drum named “Hao Khi Non Song” (Spirit of the Fatherland), bronze blocks were heated with sacred fire brought from Dong Co Temple inside a furnace at the bronze-casting workshop of craftman Thieu Quang Tung in Dong Son’s Dong Tien commune.
PM agrees to adjust master plan on IPs development in Bac Giang 16:08 | 24/02/2021

Hanoi â The Prime Minister on February 23 issued dispatch No.216/TTg-CN on a project adjusting and supplementing the master plan on the development of industrial parks (IPs) in the northern province of Bac Giang.
Accordingly, the PM agreed to ask the Ministry of Planning and Investment to add new IPs in the locality, including Yen Lu IP covering 377ha in Yen Lu and Nham Son communes, Yen Dung district; Yen Son â Bac Lung IP sprawling 300ha in Yen Son and Bac Lung communes, Luc Nam district; and Tan Hung IP on a site of 105.3ha in Tan Hung and Xuong Lam IP in Lang Giang district.

Hanoi â The Prime Minister has issued Decision No.225/QD-TTg approving a project on infrastructure building and business at Viet Han IP in the northern province of Bac Giang.
Invested by Fuji Phuc Long Development Co.Ltd, the 50-year project will be carried out in Hong Thai, Tang Tien communes and Nenh township in Viet Yen district, covering 50ha in the first stage.
The PM asked the provincial Peopleâs Committee to be responsible for choosing investors to carry out projects in line with legal regulations regarding investment, bidding, land and real estate trade and relevant laws, with a priority given to projects using modern and eco-friendly technologies.
Carton collecting competition helps double carton collection volume 11:24 | 18/01/2021
The separation of used cartons for recycling at Hanoiâs schools and households is showing positive impacts. Only in the last two months of 2020, the amount of used cartons collected has been twice as much as in the previous two months, approaching 125 tonnes.
This was achieved partially thanks to the Carton Collecting Competition launched in November 2020 with the aim of encouraging nearly 1 million primary school students and parents to separate their school and household waste.
The Carton Collecting Competition was launched in early November 2020 by Tetra Pak, in collaboration with Hanoiâs departments of Natural Resources and Environment as well as Education and Training as part of the School Recycling Programme implemented by Tetra Pak in Hanoi for the past two years.
