A SECOND mass Covid-19 vaccination hub opens in Somerset this week.
The Royal Bath and West Showground will start to vaccinate local residents and frontline heath and care workers from the highest priority groups.
It will open seven days a week from 8am to 8pm, as part of an additional wave of ‘large’ vaccination centres opening across the country.
Final preparations have been taking place on site before the first people arrive to get their jab this week.
Health and care organisations have been working together for several weeks to put detailed plans in place to prepare the site for the large scale vaccination programme. ....

Bath Racecourse and Salisbury City Hall are being transformed into large-scale coronavirus vaccination hubs.
People eligible for a Covid-19 vaccine who live within a 45-minute drive of each venue will be contacted in order to book an appointment.
The centres are due to open on Monday and will initially focus on people aged 80 and older.
Vaccination hubs are also operating at Taunton Racecourse in Somerset and Bristol s Ashton Gate Stadium.

County Hall staff redeployed to assist the Covid vaccination effort in Somerset

HUNDREDS of Somerset County Council staff are working alongside the NHS and in communities to support the fight against Covid-19.
Council officers are being redeployed from their normal day jobs to project manage the setting up of the county s GP vaccination hubs.
They are also contacting eligible residents to invite them to vaccination appointments, supporting the Test and Trace effort if a person tests positive, running the care home vaccination programme and delivering food parcels and PPE.
Among the redeployed staff is Gary Frecknall, usually a highways and transportation manager at County Hall, but more recently overseeing the setting up GP vaccination hubs in Somerset. ....
