Air Canada introduces biometric services at SFO Primary tabs 10th December 2020 The service streamlines gate experience by automating the identification verification process Air Canada has successfully rolled out a new boarding facility at San Francisco International Airport which uses facial biometric technology. Customers flying from the Californian facility are now able to utilise the new system, with plans currently being discussed to implement the new service at other US bases. (Photo Air Canada) When passengers approach the boarding gate, the biometric technology will take their photo and validate it by comparing the image to the passport document details already on file. Once the identity has been verified by the US Customs and Border Protection (CBP) Traveller Protection Service, passengers are able to board. ....
Print U.S. Customs and Border Protection recently added new biometric facial comparison technology at the Cross Border Xpress terminal to bolster security and streamline travel into the country, authorities said. When a traveler arrives from the Tijuana International Airport through the pedestrian sky bridge that connects to San Diego, he or she will stop for a photo at the primary inspection point. An officer will retrieve the traveler’s passport or visa photo from the government database. The new photo taken on-site will be compared to the one previously collected, authorities explained. This process only takes a few seconds and is over 97 percent accurate, according to CBP. ....
