More than half of people sleeping rough in Dublin are in living in tents, according to the latest official figures from the Dublin Region Homeless Executive (DRHE).
The spring “rough sleeper” count, conducted between April 19th and 25th, found 125 people sleeping on the streets, in parks and in other outdoor locations in Dublin – a reduction of 14 people (10 per cent) on the 139 found during the “winter count” in November. ....

Spring 2021 Count of People who are Sleeping Rough in the Dublin Region

The Official Spring Count of people sleeping rough in the Dublin Region was carried out over the week April 19 – 25th 2021. A total of 125 unique individuals were confirmed as rough sleeping across the Dublin Region over the week of the count.
This represents a reduction of 14 persons (10%) on the 139 individuals found to be rough sleeping during the week-long Winter Rough Sleeper count in November 2020.
A high number of unused beds (on average 91 beds per night) were available in emergency accommodation facilities throughout the week of the count.
The count was arranged by the Dublin Region Homeless Executive (DRHE) and carried out by the Dublin Simon Community Outreach Team, in full compliance with public health guidelines. Additional Outreach workers were deployed by Dublin Simon Community to ensure intense coverage of city centre areas. Staff in all four Dublin local authorities and An Garda Síochána provided additional information about people who were rough s ....

AN APP THAT allows the public to alert homeless services to the exact whereabouts of rough sleepers in Dublin has located 134 people in the four months since its launch.
From 18 December to 18 April, the Dublin Region Homeless Executive (DRHE) received 287 alerts from members of the public through its rough sleeper app, according to figures released by the executive.
The outreach service, delivered by Dublin Simon Community, met and engaged with 134 people upon responding to these alerts. ....
