The Department of Education has required school districts put into place a plan for the 2021-22 school year by June 23, and local districts are starting to make decisions about what the fall will look like.
Earlier this year, Gov. Chris Sununu announced all K-12 schools must offer a full-time, in-person learning as of April 19, and all local schools have been operating full-time since then, if they weren’t already, but still offered a fully-remote option.
Local school districts appear ready to carry on the five-day in-person schedule in the fall, according to current reopening plan discussions.
On Monday, the Jaffrey-Rindge Cooperative School Board made two adjustments to its current framework, effective immediately, and discussed a community survey asking parents their preferences for the fall.

The Sharing Arts Network has met its fundraising goals for a new ceramics center in Dublin. The arts organization raised $110,000 in the past year to secure a long-term lease in the Dublin Village Park and ceramics equipment via individual donations, tax credit sales to local businesses, and some in-kind equipment donations, organizer and MAxT Makerspace director Roy Schlieben said. The ceramics center will feature a gas kiln, electric kilns, a glazing room, six wheels, and other pottery tools and equipment, he said.
“We expect to have regular classes for all ages and abilities,” he said. Although he’s hopeful for an earlier opening, Schlieben said he expects the studio to be open this fall, following renovations.

Dublin police are warning the community to be on the lookout for a known scam artist posing as a veteran.
James Schuder, 50, homeless, was escorted out of town by the Dublin Police Department on Saturday, according to Police Chief Tim Suokko, after determining he was the same man that had previously been arrested multiple times for scamming folks out of money in Indiana and Tennessee in 2009 and 2010.
“He has no history of being a danger to others, he just preys on people’s heart strings,” said Suokko, in an interview Tuesday afternoon. “He’s a transient gentleman, I think this is how he makes his way around.”

A state veterinarian will come to Dublin later this week to check on about ten alpacas on property located on Route 101, animals many passersby believe are being neglected.
Dublin Police Chief Tim Suokko confirmed Tuesday afternoon that one of the animals had died recently on the grounds, but he is unsure at this point whether the animals are being neglected.
“People are always concerned, this is an ongoing saga over the past three or four years,” said Suokko. “I understand why they are calling – they drive by and the animals are in a public place – but I’m not sure if things are to the level that people think they are.”
