Cases of new Indian Covid-19 variant detected in London

Two cases of the new Indian variant of Covid-19 have been detected in London, as the health crisis worsens in India.
The variant, also known as B.1.617, is currently designated as a “variant under investigation” (VUI) rather than a “variant of concern” (VOC), such as those first identified in Kent, Manaus (Brazil) or South Africa.
According to the Evening Standard an analysis of test results suggests two of these cases were in Brent and Harrow.
Covid-19 expert, Dr Duncan Robertson, of Loughborough university, told the Paper:
“We do not have full information on the 77 cases the variant under investigation first detected in India. We do know that at least one case has been detected in Brent and at least one case has been detected in Harrow. ....

At Ennis District Court, a 24-year-old man was convicted of riding an e-scooter on a footpath without insurance.
The vehicle was seized by a Garda and subsequently destroyed.
In Ireland, e-scooters are currently classified as powered transporters and are not permitted for use on public roads.
New legislation is on the way which will allow for the regulation of the vehicles, but will they be the new way to commute?
