They’re an important, but not overly active board, so it’s a good opportunity if someone wants to get their feet wet in City government. January 7, 2021 Sheldon, Iowa – The Sheldon City Council voted to accept the low bid for the 2021 Street Improvement Project during their regular meeting Wednesday afternoon. The bid accepted by the Council was the lowest of seven bids received for the project, coming in at $1,472,369.25 and was submitted by Hulstein Excavating of Edgerton, Minnesota. DGR Engineering had originally estimated the project would cost $2,020,000, making the bid accepted about nine-percent lower than the Engineer’s Estimate. In other action at Wednesday’s meeting, Sheldon Mayor Greg Geels administered the Oath of Office to new Sheldon Police Officer Dan Crawley. Crawley comes to the Sheldon Police Department from a job as an officer with U.S. Customs and Border Patrol. ....
