Georgia Today: As Crime Spikes Across Georgia, Some In Buckhead Want Out Of Atlanta

  Crime is spiking across the city of Atlanta, and perhaps most visibly in Buckhead. Some residents there are saying it s time to secede from Atlanta and that forming their own city is the best way to protect their citizens and keep a close eye on their tax dollars. Opponents of Buckhead cityhood believe that this could be a tremendous hit to the economy of the city of Atlanta. On the latest episode of Georgia Today, we talk to J.D. Capelouto, news reporter from The Atlanta Journal-Constitution, about the push by some residents for Buckhead to secede from Atlanta. TRANSCRIPT

Unlicensed security guard in court for Denver protest shooting

Dolloff was contracted through the company Pinkerton by 9NEWS. It has been the practice of 9NEWS for a number of months to contract private security to accompany staff at protests. During Friday’s hearing, Dolloff’s Attorney Doug Richards alleged that Keltner had told the unlicensed security guard, “I’m going to [expletive] you up” and struck him in the face with his left hand while he was wearing “large rings on his hand that were commonly used as brass knuckles.” Richards also claimed that Keltner had been seen in photographs with a member of the motorcycle gang the Sons of Silence minutes before the shooting, and was carrying a gun in a shoulder holster.

Clyde says the metal detector is unconstitutional Author: Doug Richards Updated: 7:49 PM EDT April 19, 2021 ATLANTA A Georgia congressman said he is defending the Constitution by challenging whether members of Congress should pass through metal detectors at the U.S. Capitol. U.S. Rep. Andrew Clyde of Athens is causing a stir – just weeks after getting sworn into Congress for the first time from his district in northeast Georgia.  House Resolution 703 is a direct violation of the constitution, said Rep. Clyde in an interview with 11Alive.  Clyde is a Republican who owns a gun store in Athens.  The January resolution requires that members of Congress pass through a metal detector outside the House chamber.
