BELMAR, N.J. The second summer of COVID-19 at the Jersey Shore is likely to look much different than last year s: Many virus restrictions have been lifted, nightclubs and dance floors will be packed again, and restaurants and bars can serve full crowds indoors.
Shore towns report brisk beach badge sales as they drop capacity limits they put in place last summer to keep people further apart on the sand. Ocean City was closing in on $1 million worth of beach badge sales by the end of April, the earliest they had ever reached that mark.  ....

OCEAN CITY, NJ Ocean City has hired a labor attorney to investigate allegations against Ocean City Beach Patrol employees, according to city spokesperson Doug Bergen.
Vanessa E. James of the firm Barker, Gelfand, James and Sarvas will interview members of the beach patrol and individuals who posted anonymously to an Instagram page alleging sexual harassment offenses.
Ocean City remains committed to providing all of the resources necessary to complete a thorough investigation and to ensuring a safe workplace for all employees, Mayor Jay Gillian said in a news release. ....

Jersey Shore town hires attorney to probe claims of beach patrol sex abuse

Ocean City officials on Friday said they have hired a labor attorney to investigate allegations of sexual abuse within the Ocean City Beach Patrol that were posted anonymously on social media.
In a statement, a city spokesman said Vanessa E. James of the law firm Barker, Gelfand, James and Sarvas, would “conduct a confidential internal investigation of allegations against Ocean City Beach Patrol employees.”
The allegations - which were shared earlier this month on an Instagram account ocbp predators, - include claims of rampant sexual abuse often committed by older members against younger members of the OCBP. The posts include stories of sexual assault against underage girls along with heavy drug and alcohol use. ....
