Apr 23, 2021 The largest infrastructure project in Minot’s history continues to earn national recognition, according to the City of Minot. Phases 2-3 of the Mouse River Enhanced Flood Protection Project have been named the American Public Works Association’s Public Works Project of the Year, the second national award in recent months for Phases 2-3. “We’ve made great progress to protect our community and others throughout the river basin, but we have a lot of work left to do,” Public Works Director Dan Jonasson said. ” Phases 2-3 are vital to the overall project’s success, and we’re grateful for the work done by the contractors, consultants, and everyone involved with the project.” ....

Phase 2 and Phase 3 of the Mouse River Enhanced Flood Protection Plan received the 2020 Crown Communities Award from American City & County, a national organization dedicated to recognizing public projects and servants. Projects are judged on uniqueness, short- and long-term value to the community and effective and innovative financing. “These two phases are vital parts of the overall $1.028 billion project to protect the City of Minot and the entire Mouse River Basin,” said Dan Jonasson, director of Public Works for the City of Minot and a director for the Souris River Joint Board. “These phases are great examples of what can be accomplished when federal, state and local entities work together to find solutions for funding, permitting, construction and maintenance.” ....
