Rita Marley is set to ring in her 75th birthday this Sunday with a virtual celebration rooted in community and activism. Presented by Tuff Gong Radio – which was founded by her late husband and reggae legend
Bob Marley – the livestream (titled Mystic of a Queen) will feature a variety of events, ranging from a tribute concert, to a virtual tour of the Rita Marley exhibit at the Bob Marley Museum, and to the announcement of her namesake scholarship for 2021.
Broadcasting from Kingston, Jamaica, this weekend’s events underscore the Marley matriarch’s lifelong humanitarian work, and will be available to the public on Tuff Gong’s YouTube channel starting at 5 p.m. E.T. on Sunday, July 25.

Bob Marley’s joyful, 1977 hit “Jamming” has received a fresh remix by Brazilian DJ duo, Tropkillaz, with contributions from Nigerian singer-songwriter
Tiwa Savage. The modern-day take on the song offers highly danceable beats, while Savage (aka “The Queen of Afrobeats”) weaves new lines into Marley’s original vocals.
“Bob Marley is revered in my country, Nigeria, and all over Africa,” said Savage in a statement. “His message on the unification of Africa and love is even more relevant today and inspires me to use my art for positive change.”

SiriusXM is celebrating Black History Month with some new music channels which pay tribute to the Motor City. The satellite music service has just added Motown and Aretha Franklin channels, among others.
The limited-engagement channels are now streaming on both the SiriusXM satellite platform and the SiriusXM app through March 1.
On top of the Motown and Aretha Franklin channels, SiriusXM has channels celebrating the music of Jimi Hendrix, Miles Davis, Bob Marley and B.B. King.
