KARACHI: Favourite bay horse Choice Of The Day lifted the July Cup as turf accountants dominated a five-race card during the Gymkhana race meeting at the Karachi Racecourse on Sunday. Having placed second in last three outings, Choice Of The Day made amends by justifying his billing to give race-goers some respite on a day of upsets as he galloped home by three lengths over chestnut horse Albania to clinch the cup. Owned by Mohammad Rehan and sent by trainer Mohammad Sharif, Choice Of The Day was ably ridden by rider Riaz Ahmed. Mare Recovery, who won the last race, had to be content with third place after being edged by short head followed by Faster Than You among seven starters as New Class was scratched in the morning declaration. ....
KARACHI: Favourite bay mare Sher Garh Queen returned to winning ways by clinching the Recharge Cup in the Gymkhana race meeting at the Karachi Racecourse on Sunday. The victorious mare powered to a length-and-a-half victory over bay horse Choice of the Day to make amends of the last defeat where she was placed third. By virtue of victory, Sher Garh Queen presented her new owner-cum-trainer Naveed Baran with maiden triumph. She was piloted home by Waheed Baran. With three wins under her belt, mare Take Care had to be content with third place falling behind four-and-a-half lengths while debutant Saghir Prince completed the frame among seven horses. ....
KARACHI: Rank outsider bay filly Sugar Rush, who finished fourth last weekend, upset the applecart galloping to a length-and-a-half victory over bay horse Choice of the Day to lift the Monsoon Cup in the Gymkhana race meeting at the Karachi Racecourse on Sunday. Public felt cheated as favourite filly Regardless was not on job and finished off the frame. Mare Starka fell behind eight lengths to finish third and was followed by Faster Than You further beaten by two lengths and a quarter. Owned by M.R. Hussain and sent by S.A. Zaidi, Sugar Rush was piloted home by rider Safdar Hussain. ....
