Dr Wee: Just one Covid-19 case detected among thousands of Singapore-Malaysia lorry drivers since first MCO

PETALING JAYA: There has been only one case of Covid-19 detected out of the thousands of lorry drivers travelling to and from Singapore since March last year, says Transport Minister Datuk Seri Dr Wee Ka Siong.
“Since the movement control order was implemented in March 18,2020, the logistics sector has played a large role in moving essential services .
“As such, thousands of lorry ferrying essential goods have been allowed to enter Singapore every day.
“To date, only one Covid-19 positive case was detected. Congratulations to all Johor Immigration Department personnel, ” he said in his Facebook post on Sunday (May 9). ....

MFA pulled off 'larger than usual repatriation' to bring home young S'poreans stuck in M'sia ahead of year end

Minister of Foreign Affairs Vivian Balakrishnan has hailed the public officers from his ministry for their work in repatriating Singaporeans.
Officers from the Ministry of Foreign Affairs (MFA), including the Consulate-General in Johor Bahru, were able to put together a larger than usual repatriation to bring home Singaporean minors from Malaysia, wrote Vivian on Facebook.
He also acknowledged the part that the Ministry of Transport, the Land Transport Authority, and the Immigration and Checkpoints Authority had played in the repatriation.

The officers had been working with little fanfare to reunite families with their young loved ones who had been stuck in Malaysia since the imposition of the country s movement control order in March 2020. ....
