As time passes, it looks less likely that Democrats in Congress have the votes to impeach former President Donald Trump for his role in the Jan. 6, 2021, insurrection at the U.S. Capitol. Senate Republicans failed to derail the impeachment trial, but had enough votes to cast doubt on whether enough GOP senators would vote to convict. Editorial cartoonist Dana Summers depicted the Democrats’ chance of success as a set of extremely narrow goal posts.
