On Friday afternoon, there was no way for Louisville Water employees to get to their pumping station at Zorn Avenue and River Road without a boat, at least.
Ohio River flooding covered multiple Louisville roads Friday, including the intersection in front of the water company s pumping station. Louisville firefighters came to the rescue, helping two employees reach the station by boat.
The two employees will work a 24-hour shift making sure the pumps operate correctly, Louisville Water spokeswoman Kelley Dearing-Smith said in an email.
Dearing-Smith said the floodwaters don’t create a concern for Louisville’s drinking water. The high water just makes getting to work at the pump station a challenge, she said.

A flood warning was issued this week for areas along the Ohio River and is expected to last until Monday at 8 p.m., according to meteorologist Dan McKemy.
