Louisville flooding: Firefighters take water employees to work by boat

On Friday afternoon, there was no way for Louisville Water employees to get to their pumping station at Zorn Avenue and River Road  without a boat, at least. Ohio River flooding covered multiple Louisville roads Friday, including the intersection in front of the water company s pumping station. Louisville firefighters came to the rescue, helping two employees reach the station by boat. The two employees will work a 24-hour shift making sure the pumps operate correctly, Louisville Water spokeswoman Kelley Dearing-Smith said in an email. Dearing-Smith said the floodwaters don’t create a concern for Louisville’s drinking water.  The high water just makes getting to work at the pump station a challenge, she said.
