TRINIDAD-CRIME-Police investigating bloodbath
BROOKLYN, NY – Trinidad and Tobago police were on Wednesday bracing for possible reprisals after eight people were shot and killed along the east-west corridor.
“We are preparing for any reprisal that may occur within this division. The division is very volatile, given the number of shootings and murders we have been having over the years.
‘However, what happened this morning is something we will respond to and respond with the necessary force that is required,” said DCP (Operations and Intelligence) McDonald Jacob.
Police said that they had been alerted to the shooting incident in Arima, east of here early Wednesday, where the bodies of Teshera McKenna, 39, and son Jordan McKenna, 19, were found in a car in the morning near a piece of land where they had been cultivating crops.

NATIONAL Security Minister Fitzgerald Hinds is concerned about the killing of eight people including two women on Wednesday, in response to another murder and the issue was discussed at a Cabinet level on Thursday.
Responding to questions on Thursday at the post-Cabinet media briefing, Communications Minister Symon de Nobriga said the issue was raised in Cabinet among other things.
Asked what the Government’s response was, de Nobriga said: “Matters of national security are always discussed at Cabinet. The Minister of National Security obviously is concerned, however, the management of that is in the more-than-adequate hands of the Commissioner of Police. We expect that the police will continue to do the job that they are doing.”
