Was Superman a hidden Jew? Author of new 400-page scholarly tome is certain

NEW YORK It’s been a slow walk toward respectability for comic books, a medium that in the 1930s and 1940s was disreputable and lowly enough that it accepted Jews. Of course, the industry didn’t just accept them it was created by Jews who ran every aspect of the business. Two such young men who singlehandedly invented the concept of the superhero comic are Cleveland’s Jerry Siegel and Joe Shuster. To find scribes with a greater impact on culture, one may have to travel all the way back to Mount Sinai. My whole childhood was punctuated with sighs as my mother discovered me ignoring my homework to watch “Star Trek,” which she naturally called “Star

Marlon Brando s Acting Style Was Ahead of Its Time

Marlon Brando s Acting Style Was Ahead of Its Time Pat Saperstein, provided by FacebookTwitterEmail In the 1970s, Marlon Brando was unforgettable as “The Godfather” and shocked filmgoers with his powerful performance in “Last Tango in Paris.” The two-time Oscar winner, who would have turned 97 on April 3, made the role of Colonel Kurtz his own in “Apocalypse Now” and negotiated a stunning payday to play Superman’s father Jor-el. Superman & Lois Casts Angus Macfadyen as Jor-El (Exclusive)

Superman & Lois Casts Angus Macfadyen as Jor-El (Exclusive) Scottish actor Angus Macfadyen will appear in The CW s Superman & Lois, playing the role of Jor-El, ComicBook.com has learned exclusively. The character, previously played by luminaries like Marlon Brando and Russell Crowe, is going to serve much the same role in Superman & Lois that he has done in previous installments of the Superman mythology: he will serve as a spectral guide to his son, Superman, via the technology of the Fortress of Solitude. Whether it will be Superman, or his children (whom we know will learn his secret identity in the pilot), who benefits from the advice is not yet clear.

25 years of wonder: Worlds of Wonder writer celebrates a wondrous silver jubilee

Hi-yo silver! Today marks a momentous occasion for me, as it marks the 25th anniversary of my first ever review for Worlds Of Wonder, which was published on Jan 19,1996. What began as a short term adventure to finance my studies and then later, my wedding, has surprisingly led to my longest “employment” to date. A lot has happened over the last 25 years, but somehow it seems like only yesterday that I sent a fax (look it up, kids) to Davin Arul, the co-founder of WOW (which used to be known as Marvellous Mags), trying my luck to secure a dream “apprentice” job. To my surprise, he made me his successor instead.
