Staff working in different universities face tough times ahead as most of the institutions are unable to pay them their full salaries after most students failed to enrol for online studies due to various challenges.
This has left top administrators scratching their heads trying to find a balance between current expenditure and fulfilling their mandate of offering quality training and education to students in these ‘new normal’ times.
For instance, Egerton University administration says it is unable to fully pay staff their April salaries since it has no funds to do so. ....

African art sales, though they are on the rise, still currently account for less than 1% of the $50 billion global art market. What if there was a way for African artists to profit from their work in perpetuity while also growing their piece of the pie?
This was one of the major motivations for Kenyan-based award-winning photographer and filmmaker, Rich Allela, to auction one of the continent’s first crypto art collections using non-fungible token (NFTs).  His work is facilitated by Picha Images, a digital media company which launched one of the first crypto art NFTs on the continent. The auction is running from April 26  to mid-May, and is hosted on OpenSea, one of the world’s largest NFT digital marketplaces. ....

Juja aspirant to appear in court today

George Ndung’u Koimburi, the controversial Juja parliamentary aspirant is expected to appear in court today to answer to charges of deceit and forgery.
He pleaded not guilty when the matter came up in court last month.
The Ethics and Anti-Corruption Commission (EACC) flagged Koimburi when he presented his academic papers to the Independent Electoral and Boundaries Commission (IEBC) for clearance to vie in the by-election slated for May 18.
With just eight days to the by-election, the aspirant who unsuccessfully vied for the seat in 2017 is likely to face legal hurdles. ....
