The best of the bunch belonged to Victoria Villaneuva, who took over the national lead in the pole vault at 3.75m (12-3½). Second-ranked South Plains (Texas) made up some ground thanks to adding a plethora of top marks to the Descending Order List. Joniar Thomas is the headliner, though, as she soared 6.16m (20-2½) for the national lead in that event. Former No. 1 South Plains (Texas) is now ranked No. 2. The Lady Texans added or improved upon 11 national top-10 marks. South Plains (Texas) saw a few national leaders come out of the weekend: Rosemary Chukwuma in the 100 (11.23w) and the 4×100 relay (45.29). Joniar Thomas amassed 5132 points in the heptathlon to cement her No. 2 standing in the NJCAA. Third-ranked Barton County CC held steady from Week 1. Cloud County CC bolstered its position atop the National Rating Index with some big efforts at the Region VI Championships this past weekend. None were larger than what Mercy Ntia-Obong did in the 60, as she clocked a time of 7.31 in the prelims to become the No. 2 performer in NJCAA history in that event (Ntia-Obong later won both the 60 and 200).
