The candidates seeking the nominations are Fred Tagliarini, the incumbent Democratic mayor, and Republican William Sullivan. The winner in the November general election will begin serving a four-year term as mayor in January. The city Department of Parks and Recreation selects a contractor to construct and operate a $1 million recreation complex with tennis and gold facilities at LaTourette Park. The contractor, Joseph Martucci, lives in New Springville but has offices in Brooklyn. His proposal offers the city 16% of the complex’s gross annual receipts, which he estimates at $775,000.
