Select Board Two seats were left open for Board of Selectmen after two incumbents - John Parent and Joseph Durant - decided not to run again. “I am excited to start the next phase of this journey and serve the residents of Hudson,” wrote Shawn Sadowski on a campaign Facebook page. He also thanked those who helped with the campaign, his family and the voters. “I will promise to do my best to help Hudson move forward and continue to improve.” Sadowski, who has lived in Hudson for most of his life, said in an interview a few weeks ago he hoped to tackle tax rates, the school system, diversity issues and water and sewer rates, and planned to work on community outreach from the Board of Selectmen. ....
HUDSON One of the reasons Selectman John Parent is encouraged with the selection of Thomas Gregory as the town s next executive assistant is because he shares a key trait with the man he is replacing, Thomas Moses. “The basic item that brought both of them out was a very sincere desire to come to Hudson, to work in Hudson and to be part of the community,” said Parent, who chaired the search committees for both the selection of Moses in 2013 and recently for Gregory. “They both expressed that real willingness to establish themselves and be part of the community.” Moses, who succeeded long-serving executive assistant Paul Blazer, came with municipal finance experience from his previous work, including in Lowell as the chief financial officer and assistant city manager. ....
HUDSON Mary-Lee King, a longtime adviser to governors and state senators, and leader in of an important state agency whose quiet influence was far-reaching, was feted Friday afternoon for her 40 years of public service. The Hudson resident, whose career began in 1977 as a legislative aide, retired on the last day of 2020 as deputy commissioner of the Massachusetts Department of Fish and Game. There were many stops along the way. “Mary-Lee King broke some glass ceilings. Now, if you asked Mary-Lee, she would say, I didn’t break glass ceilings, I was just doing my job, ” said state Rep. Kate Hogan, D-Stow, in her remarks to more than 30 people gathered to celebrate King’s work. “But indeed, she is a mentor and an inspiration to many of us.” ....
