Louisville Archdiocese lifts mask mandate for fully vaccinated

LOUISVILLE, Ky. In a letter to parishioners, Archbishop Joseph Kurtz said the Archdiocese of Louisville has lifted mask requirements for those who are fully vaccinated.
Effective immediately, anyone who received their last dose of the COVID-19 vaccine at least two weeks prior is not required to wear a mask during worship services or other church events. Kurtz said people who are not fully vaccinated should continue to wear masks.
Kurtz said parishes should still enforce social distancing between family groups or individuals, and said one pastor suggested designating an area for people who might want more space. ....

The Vatican has received multiple allegations of administrative misconduct against Bishop Richard Stika of Knoxville, and is expected to authorize an investigation under the terms of Vos estis lux mundi, The Pillar has learned.
Complaints filed against the bishop allege that Stika impeded or restricted investigations into accusations of serial sexual misconduct by a seminarian who was living in his home, according to multiple sources in both the United States and Rome.
But Stika told The Pillar Thursday that he has acted properly, and is satisfied with the diocese’s handling of a series of misconduct reports against the seminarian. ....

Atlanta archdiocese to end Sunday Mass dispensation


 
In a letter to Homeland Security Secretary Alejandro Mayorkas and Secretary of State Antony Blinken, leading U.S. bishops and the head of CRS urged the administration to grant 18-month Temporary Protected Status (TPS) to foreign nationals from El Salvador, Guatemala, Honduras, and Nicaragua. 
 
“Current conditions prevent foreign nationals from returning safely, and managing their return would only add to existing challenges,” the letter states. “This is compounded with the ongoing COVID-19 pandemic, which further strains limited resources on the ground and imposes an added layer of complication for return.”
 
The letter was led by Bishop Mario Dorsonville, auxiliary bishop of Washington and chairman of the U.S. Conference of Catholic Bishops’ (USCCB) migration committee, as well as Bishop David Malloy of Rockford, chairman of the USCCB’s international justice and peace committee, as well as Sean Callahan, president and CEO of Catholic Relief ....
