Local News: Berryville council OKs new alcohol ordinance (3/9/21)

The Berryville City Council on Tuesday gave final approval to an ordinance modifying and updating the city’s existing ordinance regulating the sale of alcoholic beverages for on-premises consumption.
The measure, which was first proposed late last year, came up after the city received word from the state’s Alcoholic Beverage Control board that its current regulations were missing a key phrase relating to the sale of “spiritous beverages.”
In addition to updating the phrasing, the amended ordinance will also include a number of changes, namely restricting city officials — both elected and employed — from acting in any capacity other than providing “informational aid or assistance” to a business seeking a liquor license; setting the hours for sale of such beverages to 7 a.m. through 11 p.m. on Monday through Friday and from 7 a.m. through midnight on Saturdays; and imposing a 3 percent supplemental sales tax on the sale of ....
