Knowing they had to win, and with Spain already eliminated, the Danes were dominant throughout and held a 17-10 half-time lead in Herning as no Spanish player scored more than a solitary goal in the first period. The advantage was up to 10 goals by the end of the game, and Mia Rej led Denmark with six goals. Danish coach Jesper Jensen identified his players conditioning as a key factor in the win.
