Lammermuir Larder and Amisfield Preservation Trust have both benefited from housebuilder Mactaggart & Mickel’s building communities fund. Thirteen groups throughout Britain have received a share of £13,000, with the developer looking to help organisations navigate their way through lockdown restrictions. Lammermuir Larder was launched by the town’s resilience team, whose initiative is the third strand to food and clothing projects set up by Haddington and District Community Council during the coronavirus pandemic. Pat Lemmon, vice-chairwoman of the town’s community council, was delighted with the £1,000 donation. She said: “In this day and age, it’s hard to believe that people still go hungry and without proper warm clothing. ....
Thousands given to charities by city centre business CHARITIES helping vulnerable people will be able to go the extra mile thanks to a financial boost from a city centre business. Housebuilder Mactaggart & Mickel, based in the Atlantic Quay, donated a total of £11,000 to 13 community organisations. Director of the firm Joanne Casey said: “We have also reached out to key organisations with special one-off donations to support their vital work among those left most vulnerable by the social and economic impact of the biggest post-war challenge the UK has ever faced.” Funds were handed out to organisations across the UK but include the Kindness Homeless Street Team Glasgow and the Scottish Association for Mental Health. ....

Young Enterprise Scotland, Starter Packs Glasgow and ScotsERVS have all received a donation of £1,000 to help deliver services and purchase vital materials. Young Enterprise Scotland, who have training facilities based in Rouken Glen Park, has used the money to increase the number of classrooms and outdoor learning areas available to use. Julia Seymour, fundraising executive at Young Enterprise Scotland, said: This funding has helped us further develop the Centre as a valuable resource for the local community by utilising every spare inch of available space safely. ....
