Mike Starkie Cumbria’s only elected mayor is producing a series of podcasts to help people during the COVID-19 pandemic. Copeland mayor Mike Starkie began the podcasts last year and said he wanted to continue them during the new national lockdown to keep businesses and residents engaged. The most recent episode covers some of the pressures that the council currently faces including its waste, recycling, and customer services. Other topics covered include business grants, housing, and community resilience. Mr Starkie is joined by council colleagues, business leaders, and charity leaders. He added: âOur community gets to hear from our officers and partners who are involved on the ground every day, in the grants process or managing waste collections for example.â ....
