A drug that could protect high-risk Covid-19 patients from developing severe illness is sitting on shelves unused as a record number of people are hospitalized in the U.S.
On Thursday, public health officials at the federal and state levels pleaded with the country to take advantage of its vast supply of monoclonal antibody treatments, the only available therapy that can potentially keep patients out of the hospital.
This is the first time during the pandemic that I can recall when our resources far exceed demand, Dr. William Fales, medical director of the Michigan Department of Health and Human Services, said Thursday during a media briefing organized by the U.S. Department of Health and Human Services. Ohio State tests out COVID vaccine clinic at Schottenstein Center
Surrounded by scarlet-and-gray and Block Os, hundreds of health care workers received the first dose of their coronavirus vaccine Friday at Ohio State University s Schottenstein Center in a pilot run for a public rollout next week.
Wexner Medical Center will use the 770,000-square-foot arena to finish giving shots to its own employees while administering the first vaccines to Ohioans age 80 and older beginning Tuesday.
While just 400 employees were vaccinated Friday at the Schottenstein Center, Ohio State expects to administer first doses to 1,700 on Tuesday, the first day of the public Phase 1B rollout. Thousands of seniors have already scheduled appointments ....
