After signing a pair of five-star linebackers in 2020 – Noah Sewell (Utah) and Justin Flowe (California) – the position wasn’t a particular need for Oregon.

Once rated the No. 1 inside linebacker nationally, Oregon’s lone in-state pledge is the No. 4 player at his position on Rivals - without a senior season to showcase his growth and development.

On the first day of the early signing period Wednesday, the Oregon Ducks signed 20 of its 21 verbal commitments to binding National Letters of Intent, securing the overwhelming majority of the best recruiting class in program history.
The lone holdout? Oregon’s newest pledge, 247Sports composite four-star outside linebacker Jonathan Flowe, who had announced his verbal commitment less than 24 hours earlier.
However, that was unsurprising, as the 6-foot-1, 200-pound ‘backer was rumored to be leaning toward signing during the traditional signing period in February.

EUGENE By any measure, Wednesday’s early national signing day was a resounding success at Oregon for a third consecutive year.
Mario Cristobal and his staff are turning identifying elite talent, recruiting players to UO’s football palace in the Pacific Northwest and putting pen to paper into an annual display of one-upmanship with themselves and beginning to build a talent gap within the Pac-12. Oregon signed 20 players throughout Wednesday morning to the No. 6 class in the country in the 247Sports Composite, another program-best.

The 6-foot-1, 200-pound ‘backer, out of Upland High School, is rated the nation’s No. 218 overall prospect and the No. 13 outside linebacker with a scholarship offer sheet that began years ago, highlighted by Alabama, Auburn, Florida, Florida State, Georgia, LSU, Miami (Fla.), Ohio State, Oklahoma, Penn State, Tennessee, Washington and others.
