1/1 A MAN who spat at police officers and hurled racist insults after being arrested has been jailed. Peter Charlwood, 33, appeared before Bradford Crown Court yesterday to be sentenced for a catalogue of offences. The first happened on the night of March 25 last year, when Charlwood, who has 33 convictions for 58 offences, smashed the window of a taxi and swiped loose change. Officers attended and saw Charlwood walking towards them on Thornton Lane, Little Horton, and he told them what he had done. He had change in his hand, along with fragments of glass and was arrested. While police were speaking with two Asian males in the street, Charlwood hurled vile racist insults in their direction, before being further arrested for a racially-aggravated public order offence. In the police vehicle, he said he was sorry and that he had black and Asian family members. ....
