The ministry of human rights has established the Zainab Alert, Response and Recovery Agency (ZARRA) as provided under the Zainab Alert, Response and Recovery Act, a federal law officer told the Sindh High Court (SHC) on Wednesday.
Filing a notification on a petition seeking a direction to the federal government to establish the agency and implement the law to deal with child rape and kidnapping cases, the federal law officer submitted that in pursuance of a cabinet decision, the federal ministry of human rights had established ZARRA under the Act. He added that the secretariat of the agency had been set up in the ministry of human rights in Islamabad. A division bench of the SHC headed by Justice Mohammad Ali Mazhar took the notification on record and adjourned the hearing. ....

Pain, fear as bandits kill 212 within 2 months in Kaduna

Daily Trust reports that between January and February, at least 212 people had been killed with at least 65 injured in 10 local government areas of Kaduna State. With Igabi, Chikun, Giwa, Birnin Gwari and Kajuru suffering the most attacks in the last two months, attacks were equally launched on communities within Kauru, Zangon Kataf, Kachia, Zaria and Lere local government areas.

A Sharia Court sitting in Dorayi, Kano, on Thursday, granted a woman, Zainab Abubakar, divorce, on grounds that her husband of six years, Biko, Salisu Ibrahim, abandoned her for eight months.
Delivering judgment, Malam Umar Dan-Baba, dissolved the marriage.
Earlier, the mother of two, told the court that her husband left her and her children.
”My lord, things have not been going well, we are suffering.
“I can hardly pay the school fees for my children. We do not feed well because he did not provide feeding allowance,’ she said. ....
