That’s why we are giving a historic tax cut – taking local foster carers who foster for Thurrock out of council tax; That’s a massive annual tax cut of around £1,600 for a band d home!

Thurrock Council set to agree plans to increase charges for home care

The council is set to agree proposals for an increase to the hourly charge for care services in Thurrock in order to secure the future of the service and increase pay to care providers.
Thurrock Council will consider the report, due to be presented by James Halden, Cabinet Member for Children’s Services and Adults Social Care, that will propose the hourly rate that can be charged for these services increase from £13 to £17.06 per hour, but vitally it will be phased in over the next three years to allow people the time to adjust.
Cllr Halden said: “As our care services continue to provide high quality care and support to residents in their homes, it’s important that we review our fees and charges accordingly. ....

Plans to splash £250,000 on Thurrock safety and tackle speeding issues welcomed

Plans to splash £250,000 to improve safety and tackle speeding issues - have been welcomed by councillors.
Conservative Councillors James Halden and Gary Collins have welcomed the Conservative led Thurrock council’s quarter of a million pounds investment into Branksome Avenue. The money, which comes from the funding won from the Conservative Governments sustainable transport scheme, will pay for works to enable cycling while tackling speeding on the road. The funding is now committed, as the full design is built with consultation with residents.
Cllr Collins said “Speed reduction on Southend Road has been very successful, but other areas of the ward, like Branksome Avenue, needed and deserved some real investment. I am thrilled we have won a sizable pot of cash, and I look forward to working with local people to deliver real improvements here”. ....

A YOUNG Thurrock resident has been successfully recruited to the National Children in Care Council (NCICC) for care leavers.
Asif Salarzai has been recruited to role of National Voice Ambassador within the council which supports children across England aged 11 to 25 leaving care.
Asif said “Upon receiving an email about this great opportunity of being an ambassador for the National Children in Care Council, my first reaction was that this is something I want to partake in. Having been part of NCICC for almost 3 years I always wanted to take my causes and awareness nationally and this opportunity provided me the platform. ....
