Arizonans enrolled in 3rd through 8th grade are tested through the AzM2, a standardized test measuring children s reading, writing and mathematical abilities. District ONE Superintendent James Sheldahl expressed extreme joy on behalf of the pupils excellence saying, In a year of unprecedented challenges, they were able to focus and excel.

The District s Superintendent James Sheldahl said about 70% of its teachers have so far received the COVID-19 vaccine. This thanks to the Yuma County Public Health Services District, which allocated vaccine appointments specifically for teachers to get their doses. Superintendent Sheldahl said a majority of students would be making the return. However, those families not yet comfortable still have the option to continue distanced learning.

He adds that in a survey, parents were asked how many would send their kids back to their regular five-day in-person learning, to which 64% of the parents said yes.
