The Asthma and Respiratory Foundation NZ (ARFNZ) is disappointed that the Ministry of Health has not confirmed funding for an app that could improve the lives of the 700,000 Kiwis living with respiratory disease.
ARFNZ launched the MyAsthma app in 2017, to provide information and basic tools to help people manage their asthma. Recently, the app was reviewed by Health Navigator NZ, and along with feedback from ARFNZ’s Scientific Advisory Board and the general public, this highlighted areas for improvement. numbers of babies and young children seriously ill with
Respiratory Syncytial Virus (RSV), and schools and
kindergartens reporting record numbers of children off sick,

With hospitals across the country struggling with high numbers of babies and young children seriously ill with Respiratory Syncytial Virus (RSV), and schools and kindergartens reporting record numbers of children off sick, it’s vital we all do our part to stop the spread of winter germs, says the Asthma and Respiratory Foundation NZ (ARFNZ).
RSV is a common virus, and in many cases the symptoms are like cold symptoms and can be treated at home. However, it is also the most common cause of hospitalisation for lower respiratory tract infections in under-two-year-olds, and can cause serious illness such as pneumonia and bronchiolitis. Those most at risk of becoming seriously ill from RSV are premature babies, and young children with congenital heart or lung diseases or compromised immune systems. Older adults can also be vulnerable. ....

Covid-19: Government clarifies eligibility criteria for group 3 of vaccine roll-out

Body Positive executive director Mark Fisher said the organisation first contacted authorities calling for those with HIV to be eligible under group 3 in March.
It’s welcome news to those who have been campaigning on behalf of those most at risk.
Since March, HIV support organisation Body Positive have been calling for the Government to allow those living with HIV – a virus which attacks the immune system – to be included in group 3, as they are at greater risk of severe illness from Covid-19.
Its executive director, Mark Fisher,​ said it was good news he could finally give those his organisation supports a clear answer for when they could get the vaccine. ....
