UPDATE: Officers Recovering from Person in Crisis Call
The three officers injured during a person in crisis call continue to recover from their injuries.
On Tuesday, December 22, 2020, shortly after 3:00 p.m. Hamilton Police responded to the area of James Street North and Robert Street for reports of a person in crisis. Officers used de-escalation techniques and minimal force to secure the male. During the incident, three officers were injured and they were transported to the hospital with various injuries to their neck and head.
The male sustained minor injuries before being safely apprehended and transported to the hospital for an assessment. ....

Three Hamilton police officers are being treated for stab wounds after responding to a person in crisis in the city’s downtown core.
Officers were called to the scene near James and Roberts streets just after 3 p.m. to reports of an erratic male with a weapon.
When police arrived, they engaged with the man and an altercation ensued. Three officers were injured in the incident and taken to hospital with stab wounds to the head and neck. All three are in stable condition. ....

TORONTO
Three police officers have been taken to hospital with injuries after a stabbing incident in downtown Hamilton, Ont., on Tuesday afternoon.
Hamilton police said they were called to the area of James Street North and Cannon Street East after reports of a person in crisis at around 3:20 p.m.
Investigators said officers engaged with a 24-year-old man who was behaving erratically and was in possession of a weapon.
Three officers, who are now in stable condition, were taken to hospital and were all suffering from stab wounds to the neck and head, police said.
The man, who is from Oakville, Ont., was arrested and charged with three counts of aggravated assault with a weapon. He is now receiving medical treatment in hospital for unspecified injuries. ....
