Mar 2, 2021 B.H.S. to Host Robotics Competition for 9-14 Year-Olds There’s an exciting robotics competition happening later this month. It involves fun learning where students pick up new skills that they can apply in other areas of their studies. Belize High School is hosting the contest and looking for a few more participants. Reporter Andrea Polanco tells us more.

Jan 27, 2021 A COVID-19 Education Task Force is Formed The Briceño Administration has established a COVID-19 Education Task Force to help guide the government in delivering quality, accessible education during the COVID-19 pandemic. The pandemic has dealt a blow to education, with regular classroom sessions suspended since March of last year. So the idea is for the task force to provide specific recommendations for the safe and responsible reopening of schools for face to face instruction in the new school year, tentatively in August 2021. Among those on the task force are Special Envoy Rossana Briceño, Senators Isabel Bennett and Elena Smith, and Acting DHS Melissa Diaz Musa, principals Jamie Usher and Salome Tillett. Rounding off the members are: Martine King of Mind Health Connect, a member of the UB Faculty and Staff Union and the President of the National Student Union of Belize. ....

Sport Dennis Newlyn Premium Content Subscriber only Daniel Sayre raced to a convincing win in the 25-lap Wingless Sprintcar feature race at Castrol Edge Lismore Speedway, Saturday night, January 16. He was followed to the chequered flag by Jamie Usher and Errol Campbell. Sayre had an untroubled run after starting at the front of the field and always looked in command as he reeled off some impressive laps with a 91.504 km/h speed average. ....
Fans were kept on their toes, by all the high octane drama… Dave Putsey’s vehicle bursting into flames during the street stock race… During the main event, Daniel Sayre led the pack in the 25-lap Wingless Sprintcar feature… He was followed closely by Jamie Usher towards the end. But Sayre hit full throttle, crossing the finish line in first. Racers are now gearing up for the annual Grand Prix on January 24, which will form part of the Australia Day fixture.
