Multi-million care IT system 'unreliable' – Powys Council


The care IT system is unreliable and hitting staff morale, Powys Council s cabinet heard
A vital IT system used by social services staff in Powys is unreliable and is to be referred to the Welsh Government.
The Welsh Community Care Information System is multi-million pound IT investment supplied by the Welsh Government to fully integrate health and social care in Wales.
It is supposed to mean that community nurses, mental health teams, social workers and therapists can share electronic records so that they know where a patient is with their treatment.
But problems with the system in Powys led the council s cabinet to agree at a meeting on Tuesday, May 25 that it should be placed on the Strategic Risk Register as a risk to the council. ....

EE installs new 4G masts on rail line from Brighton to London Victoria


WORKERS returning to offices can now benefit from greater mobile coverage on rail routes.
EE has announced significant upgrades to its mobile network across commuter routes in and out of London, including the line from Brighton to London Victoria.
The mobile network operator has built six new 4G masts along the route, to boost connectivity.
It comes after EE launched 5G services in Brighton last month.
The city is the first place in East Sussex to receive the new mobile technology on EE’s network.
Jane Thomas, BT Group regional lead for London and the South East, said: “This is fantastic news for commuters in Brighton as we begin to see more staff returning to offices and workplaces. ....

National body agrees £150 pay rise for Powys councillors


ALL Powys County Councillors are set to receive a £150 pay rise this year after a one per cent increase was agreed by a national body.
At Powys County Council’s annual meeting on Thursday, May 13, councillors were asked to approve a report by the Independent Remuneration Panel for Wales which gives them a 1.06 per cent pay increase.
The panel’s decision applies to all 22 local authorities in Wales and is supposed to reflect increases in the cost of living and earnings.
Authorities are not able to amend the nationally-set remuneration rates, but individual councillors may choose to forego part of their entitlement if they wish to do so in writing. ....
