Collingwood, Ont. LTC home issued rare order due to 'a risk of harm to the health or well-being of residents'

BARRIE, ONT.
Sunset Manor long-term care home in Collingwood, Ont. has been issued a rare order to stop admissions immediately following an inspection by the Ministry of Long-Term Care.
On Thursday, the ministry sent a letter to the placement coordinator for the long-term care home, directing it to cease admissions because of a belief that there is a risk of harm to the health or well-being of residents in the home or persons who might be admitted as residents.
A ministry report on June 10 states the 150-bed home received several written notifications and compliance orders for not following requirements highlighted after inspections between July 2018 and April 2021. ....

North East Ambulance Service paramedic gets set to take on Kilimanjaro

A PARAMEDIC from the North-East will be taking the gruelling climb to the top of the highest point in Africa in a bid to raise over £4,500 for the national charity dedicated to supporting the UK’s ambulance community.
Jane Sinclair, of the North East Ambulance Service (NEAS), will begin her ten-day climb up Mount Kilimanjaro in September to help The Ambulance Staff Charity (TASC).
Jane will face a steep 6km climb to the summit through tropical rainforest and snow-capped peaks.
She said: “I have wanted to go to Africa since my late teens and when I saw the Kilimanjaro trek on the TASC website, I thought that this would be a golden opportunity to fulfil my dream as well as raising money for my fellow colleagues in the ambulance service. ....
