Epler Schoolhouse, which was saved from demolition and moved to the Berks County Heritage Center last year, will open to the public on Saturday from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. The one-room schoolhouse opening is the first event held by the Berks County Parks and Recreation Department since the pandemic forced cancelation of programming more than a year ago. In addition to several programs this weekend, the Parks and Recreation Department will be giving a historic walking tour of the grounds of the Berks County Heritage Center starting at 1 p.m. The tour will highlight many of the still existing farm buildings as well as the on-site historical features and attractions. ....

Rebholz was nominated for the Illinois Community College Trustees Association (ICCTA) Distinguished Alumnus Award by board chair Jane Goetz. “Dr. Rebholz’ inspirational story took her from our nursing labs in the early 1980s to a leadership position at a nearby hospital to a seat on our board of trustees,” said Goetz. “She has been a local leader in pain management, diabetes control and more recently COVID-19 education and prevention,” Goetz said, adding, “Throughout her illustrious career, she has championed IVCC’s mission as a medical professional, a parent of three students, an instructor and now as a trustee.” ....
By Illinois Supreme Court issued the following announcement on Mar. 9. Justice Robert L. Carter and the Supreme Court of Illinois have announced the appointment of Christina M. Cantlin-VanWiggeren as an At-Large Circuit Court Judge in the Thirteenth Judicial Circuit. Ms. Cantlin-VanWiggeren is being appointed to fill the vacancy created by the appointment of Judge Eugene P. Daugherity to the Third District Appellate Court. The appointment takes effect on March 22, 2021, and will conclude on December 5, 2022, when the vacancy will be filled by the winner of the November 2022 general election. “I would like to thank Justice Carter, the Illinois Supreme Court and the screening committee for this appointment,” Ms. Cantlin-VanWiggeren said. “I look forward to serving the citizens of the 13th Circuit as a member of the judiciary.” Justice Carter recommended the appointment to the full Court following a review of applicants by a seven-person screening c ....
