Published: 5/12/2021 7:08:06 PM As reported in the May 7 Gazette and based upon objections of residents living in close proximity to the city’s proposed kennel, Mayor David Narkewicz has withdrawn the proposal, much to neighbors’ relief. Research has long shown that noise pollution goes well beyond annoying and has the potential to compromise human health by causing hearing loss and anxiety as well as leading to diabetes, heart disease and, as mentioned by Dr. Vatrenko, suicide. Noise pollution also negatively impacts wildlife. Northampton’s current round of infill encourages the development of closer residential housing units as well as greater proximity of housing and commercial entities. Now more than ever an up-to-date and strictly enforced noise ordinance is essential for residents’ well-being. ....
Carol Ann Smith, 86, of Dagsboro, Del., and formerly of Reisterstown, Md., passed away at home, surrounded by family, on Saturday, Feb. 13, 2021. She was born in Orange, N.J., on Jan. 9, 1935, to the late Joseph Gross and Ethel McInerney Gross. She and her husband had moved to Dagsboro about 25 years ago. She loved the beach life, entertaining family and friends, and hosting holiday dinners. In addition to her parents, Smith was preceded in death by her husband, Thomas E. Smith, in 2009, and a sister, Janet Gross. She is survived by three sons, Steven Smith, Robert Smith and Tom Smith; two sisters, Marie Cheety and Rita Smith; and her extended family and friends. ....

Feb 8, 2021 Suzie Joe Viera, of Steubenville, Ohio, passed away unexpectedly on February 5, 2021 at the age of 60. She was born in Gary, Indiana on September 20, 1960. After graduating from Martins burg High School, Martinsburg WV in 1978, she attended college at Potomac State and West Liberty Colleges in West Virginia earning a bachelors degree in business. She worked as an auditor for Highmark Blue Cross for a number of years. She is survived by two dear brothers, Monty Joe Isner (Steubenville OH) and Dannyjoe Carter, and his wife Susie (Las Vegas, NV). She is also survived by her kitties, T’Pau, Keeler, and Khan. She mothered many cats through the years with such creative names as Natasha Anastasia Lucretia Badroulbadour Poo and Ichabod Ebenezer Badroubadour Poo. ....
