Published February 1, 2021, 2:17 PM Arrest warrants have been issued by the Quezon City regional trial court (RTC) against three executives of French pharmaceutical firm Sanofi Pasteur for their alleged criminal liability over the sufferings and deaths of those who got vaccinated with the anti-dengue vaccine Dengvaxia. The Public Attorney’s Office (PAO) said on Monday, Feb. 1. the arrest warrants were issued against Sanofi Pasteur executives Stanislas Camart, Jean Louise Grunwald, and Jean Francois Vacherand, all of whom have been charged with reckless imprudence resulting in homicide, among other charges. The arrest warrants were issued by QC RTC Branch 107 which has been assigned to handle all of the criminal Dengvaxia cases. ....

CONTRIBUTED PHOTO President Rodrigo Duterte on Tuesday vetoed the budget cut on the Public Attorney’s Office (PAO) forensics laboratory that was inserted by Senators Franklin Drilon and Juan Edgard “Sonny” Angara. PAO Chief Persida Rueda-Acosta thanked the President for the veto, saying it retained the rights of indigents to gain access to free legal and medical services. Duterte “has saved the 13 million clients [of PAO] from the ill-motives of the authors of such inserted rider that undermines the human rights and due process clause of the constitution,” Rueda-Acosta said in a statement. Rueda-Acosta had accused Drilon and Angara of disrespecting the President by “illegally” inserting a provision in the 2021 budget that would effectively dissolve the laboratory. ....
Department of Justice (DoJ) (MANILA BULLETIN) Prosecutor General Benedicto Malcontento revealed this Saturday after the Public Attorney’s Office (PAO) filed the sixth batch of complaints before the DoJ last Nov. 25 on behalf of the families of the vaccinees.
“Next year na. Ninety-eight counts kasi ‘yan (The preliminary investigation will be done next year. There are 98 complaints),” Malcontento said. Malcontento said he has yet to assign a prosecutor who will conduct the preliminary investigation of the complaints to determine if there is probable cause to file charges in court.
He said the DoJ National Prosecution Service (NPS) is currently sorting out the complaints. ....
