PlayStation Studios are working more than 25 PS5 games, many of which will be new properties

Sony is apparently looking to release more than 25 PlayStation 5 games under its PlayStation Studios brand. And “nearly half” of them will
not be sequels or spinoffs, according to
Wired’s interview with PlayStation Studio lead (and former Guerrilla Games managing director) Hermen Hulst.
That could theoretically be a
lot more games than the four first-party Sony titles we already know about:
Horizon Forbidden West (2021)
God of War: Ragnarok (2021)
Gran Turismo 7 (2022)
Twenty-one additional games could be a huge shot in the arm for the PS5, especially considering how slowly exclusives are trickling out;
Sony also may not be completely on the hook for producing all of the games that are unaccounted for, though. The PlayStation Studios branding is a bit murky. When it was first announced, Eric Lempel, the head of global marketing at Sony Interactive Entertainment, told ....

Sony XDEV Europe has collaborated with independent teams like Quantic Dream and Housemarque for many years, but now its remit appears to span worldwide. The Liverpool-based studio responsible for releases like Returnal and Detroit: Become Human historically only interfaced with European teams, but an internal reshuffle appears to have put it in charge of PlayStation’s second-party operations worldwide.
While the team’s website remains unchanged – it doesn’t even mention more recent releases like Sackboy: A Big Adventure – alterations on PlayStation.com and career-focused social network LinkedIn appear to demonstrate the shift. Long-time employees now describe their roles as External Producers within the PlayStation Studios framework. Some even list their positions as Global External Producers, illustrating that this is now a worldwide operation. ....

The troubling signs for Google s video game streaming platform Stadia continue. While I have to admit that I had really high hopes for Stadia, nothing about this has been smooth from launch to its current state of, well, who the hell knows what is going to happen to it. From a poor initial reception to questions about failed promises on performance, the conversation about Stadia quickly focused on the platform not offering much in the way of an actual game catalogue to play. Less than a year later, Google made this problem even worse by disbanding its own in-house game developers, leading to more fallout when Stadia could suddenly not support its own internally developed game. ....
